PUPILS have demanded the return of a mixed-race teacher suspended for four weeks for refusing to teach a 12-year-old boy who called him a "black maggot" in public.

English teacher Chris Hassan, of Kingswood high school in Hull, faces disciplnary action following his refusal to teach the boy whom he asked to be moved to another class. The boy was excluded for three days. Now 500 of the school's 800 pupils have signed a petition saying Mr Hassan should be allowed to return.
