Sustainability minus zombies
It was good to see an article about education for sustainable development ("End of the world as we know it", 20 July). But does teaching on this issue really need the use of zombies to focus young minds?
Surely learning about the beauty and intricacy of life on Earth offers more to celebrate. Sustainability in schools should provide valuable learning about the real world. An appreciation of sustainability basics should be the first step, especially as research has already shown that teenagers can switch off if they are "preached at". There is plenty of doom and gloom already in the media.
Schools need to take control of education for sustainable development for themselves.
