Scottish Swimming plans to recruit a new head coach to oversee the development of swimmers aged 10-12 years. The successful candidate will be required to deliver the governing body's training syllabus at the National Swimming Academy in Stirling and be able to oversee the programme from September this year until February 2005.

Applications for the post close on July 2. Further information can be obtained from Scottish Swimming at the National Swimming Academy at Stirling University.

Meanwhile, Alastair Whike, who has coached for 10 years at the Heart of Midlothian and then City of Edinburgh clubs, has been appointed swimming coach to the East of Scotland Institute of Sport. The four-year post is funded by SportScotland, the East Institute of Sport and Edinburgh city council.
