Take a letter or three

Yet another acronym has passed into the school lexicon. It's BOB - short for the Bu**er Off Book. One Educational Institute of Scotland delegate explained to colleagues at last week's AGM in Dundee that, on arrival at her new school, she had asked what arrangements she needed to make about doing marking and preparation off the school premises.

Colleagues advised her to check in with Bob - so she approached the deputy headteacher, who happened to be called Bob. He spluttered and explained that BOB stood for something else entirely.
