Tax demand

8th August 1997 at 01:00
Somerset residents are being asked to donate their council tax rebates to schools after the local authority was ordered to refund an average of Pounds 20 per household. The call was made at an emergency meeting of the county council last week. It followed a government ruling that Somerset should reduce its budget by Pounds 3.4 million. Letters inviting people to donate their refunds will be sent out with the revised bill.
