Teacher suspended

A food technology teacher has been suspended for two years after being found guilty of calling pupils "ugly", "fat" and "a scumbag". James Cairney, who taught at the Causeway School in Eastbourne, also asked pupils if their mothers were "fit" when making parents' evening appointments; inappropriately handled a pupil while showing restraint techniques; and was absent from school without permission, the General Teaching Council for England said.
