Teaching awards

The green paper gives formal backing to Lord Puttnam's teaching awards -referred to by some as "Oscars" for teachers. Examples of winners' work will be featured on the National Grid for Learning and the awards ceremony will be screened by the BBC.

"Awards won't change the world, but they will go some small way towards recognising how teachers can change the world for others," said Lord Puttnam, who will oversee the award.
