OUR BOOK of the week (Friday magazine, page 14) is Schools Must Speak for Themselves: the case for self-evaluation by John MacBeath, director of the Quality in Education Centre at Jordanhill. It argues that schools "must learn to tell their own story with self-confidence, conviction and evidence", as an alternative to school improvement through inspection.
