(Photograph) - Teachers and leading figures in education have told the First Minister what he needs to do improve learning and teaching.

Gordon Miller, headteacher of Mearns Academy in Aberdeenshire (flanked by senior pupils) calls for more vocational opportunities to head off inclusion difficulties and the scrapping of the 5-14 programme.

"But there are many good things going on in our schools," Mr Miller maintains.
