TES bursary winner

ROBERT Foster, a percussionist with the Mount Charles Youth Band in St Austell, Cornwall, won The TES Bursary of pound;1,000 on the last night of the Schools Prom last week.

The 16-year-old is studying A-level music at St Ausell College and hoping to gain a BTech National Diploma in popular music.

His ambition is to play timpani with a top orchestra.

The bursary will help him to attend percussion workshops across the country.
