Too much for one subject?

5th May 2006 at 01:00
It is common knowledge that geography is the worst taught primary subject, but what is being done to tackle the issue?

Our own authority has run a popular three-day course on the subject entitled "Location, location, location" - but when details of it were sent to three neighbouring authorities, not one replied. And this week, schools got a pamphlet from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority advertising teacher assessment activities in foundation subjects - which failed to mention geography. Until local authorities and the QCA pay more attention to geography, it will continue to decline.
