True colours of whiteboards

24th December 2004 at 00:00
I agree that interactive whiteboards need to be backed up with training and support for teachers (TES, December 3). We have nearly 80 boards, and a programme of training that has led nearly 100 teachers to level 2 whiteboard competency.

But merely being in control of the technology is not enough; you need to use it to improve learning. To support teachers, we also have a leader in learning technologies who helps them to understand the pedagogical theory and practice of using new technologies. With technical skills underpinned by pedagogical theory, Surbiton staff are confident that they are using the whiteboards to raise achievement.
