Fantasy farms

The Centre for the Children's Book in Newcastle upon Tyne invites visitors to its exhibition Over the Hills and Far Away at the Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead, to enter a farm and become artists. The "farm" is a recreation of the studio of Kim Lewis, whose picture books chronicle life on a Northumbrian sheep farm. A second "Fantasy Farms" gallery opens on April 19. On Saturdays until June there will be free storytelling, craft, drama, games and other activities. A folk singing session is on March 15, and "animal art" - how to create a beastly masterpiece - on April 17 and 24. Tel: 0191 477 1495 for details; 0191 276 4289 for the parallel touring schools "roadshow".
