Ugly bugs have a ball

If you want to see things from a bug-eyed point of view, then the Backyard Monsters exhibition at Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry is the place to go. The display of gigantic, automated insects is billed as "the creepy, crawly, slimyway to have fun" while finding out about the way insects live.

The exhibition, which features more than 1,000 exotic specimens and as well as hands-on activities, runs until September 30. For details, call 0161 832 2244.
