Ulster damage bill

Damage to school premises in Northern Ireland caused during riots which erupted after the row over the Orange Order march in Portadown last month has been estimated at over Pounds 3 million. The total bill is believed to exceed Pounds 20m. Michael Ancram, Northern Ireland's Education Minister, condemned the destruction as "a shocking waste of scarce public funds".
