Uniform behaviour

I agree with the correspondent who questioned the wearing of school uniform (Letters, August 27). As a headteacher who introduced school uniform I was convinced of its value.

However, on a recent visit to Arkansas I visited schools where there was no uniform. The students were extremely well-behaved and showed dedication to their schools. Oh yes, and they virtually all went to church on Sundays.
