Uniform is best;Letter

In reply to "Discount war on poverty" (TESS, February 6) on voucher schemes for schoolchildren, the types of tracksuits etc sold in these shops are ideal leisure wear but a far cry from the uniform which parents and schools have agreed should be worn. I don't imagine that pound;50 would go very far at the prices of designer wear today, whereas an appropriate uniform, common to all children, could be purchased at many local retailers.

Let us hope that North Lanarkshire can find suppliers who will be able to supply the parents with an outfit appropriate for school wear, which gives the corporate image and pride that schools have attempted to achieve.
