As long as the NUT and NASUWT are setting the agenda there seems little chance of any improvement in the crisis. I teach over 100 teenagers: few of them would seriously consider teaching as a career - and whocould blame them? Teaching is the sole British profession stuck in a time-warp of Seventies-style attitudes. That is the Great Unspoken Reason for the current teacher shortage crisis.
