The diary is not in the habit of advertising commercial products but, just occasionally, a technology comes along that promises to change education as we know it.
We will let Guido van der Zwet, a functionary of the Dutch-based company www.innovactory.nl, which created the revolutionary device, speak for himself:
"(Our product) has to be put in boys' toilets and reduces peeing next to the toilet. In the Netherlands, peeing next to the toilet is a big problem at primary schools and our product is now sold to about half of all Dutch primary schools."
Like most revolutionary technologies, it is simple in concept - a heat-sensitive sticker that reveals a funny pattern when it comes into contact with urine - but we can't help feeling that there are going to be some very happy school cleaners if Mr van der Zwet's idea actually works.
