Vanishing chairs;Letter

5th March 1999 at 00:00
SINCE LOCAL government reorganisation in 1996 I have been compiling a list of the chairs of the education committees of the 32 authorities from noting when their names appear in articles in The TES Scotland.

Over the years the list has filled out, but as we approach the next election, I find that I am still short of names from Falkirk, Fife, Orkney and Shetland. I am not sure what significance to derive from this, but pass on the information anyway. Do these authorities do nothing worth writing about, or are their chairs just not available for comment?

Alastair Nicol. Mastrick Land, Aberdeen.
