He's a village policeman. He wears a pointy hat. He rides around on a bicycle. And everything like that. Well, not quite.

Apparently, coppering now demands so much knowledge that a degree in police studies has been launched, with a foundation degree which includes pounding the beat. Let's face it, policing has changed. Today's policeman is more likely to be crouching by his car with a laser gun than cycling through the village wearing a ruddy grin.
