Vernon Scannell

9th July 2004 at 01:00
Please can I express the most abject apology for having stated falsely that the great poet Vernon Scannell is a late poet (Teacher magazine, June 18).

He is no such thing. Perhaps I was told that he was no longer with us or I misheard something but of course I should have checked first.

Please can I take this opportunity to remind people to read his work and celebrate the all-alive Vernon Scannell. Apologies to all who know him.
