Vital half-hour

MOTHERS who do not spend at least half an hour a day, without background noise, with their eight to 18 month-old infants, risk producing young criminals, it has been claimed.

Dr George Hosking, a cinical criminologist, told a National Family and Parenting Institute conference that his three-year study showed there was a "critical window" for helping children's development at that age.
