Vital questions

Victoria Neumark seems complimentary about our videotape Bullying: The Children Speak - if "gut-wrenching" is a complimentary term - but she has plainly confused the booklet that goes with it with another publication (TES, November 29).

We do not offer tips, "well-intentioned" or otherwise, to teachers or parents because, of course, the problem of bullying is not simple.

What the booklet does contain, apart from some extensive transcripts of interviews with children and notes on sources of information and support, is a series of questions which parents, teachers, governors and children need to address if they are to tackle bullying in their community. They might start with, "Is there anything in your school which makes bullying unlikely?" PETER COLTMAN Head of production Leeds University Television
