Edinburgh's Holy Rood High has entered a girls' team in the Scottish National League, which begins on Sunday. They join Queensferry High and Mary Erskine School in the national competition, which provides a pathway to full Scottish League participation.

City of Edinburgh, which started out in the junior set-up, is now playing at men's division one level in the Scottish League and its success has helped to create interest in volleyball. The team has spawned an under-16 boys' team, which trains three times a week.
