Vorderman and the nerd factor;Letter

A FUNDAMENTAL principle in public speaking is that one can destroy the impact of what one has said over some considerable time in a single, unfortunate aside remark.

Carol Vorderman, in her comment "It is going to be the decade of the nerd" (TES, March 19 "Countdown to year of maths") appears to be profoundly, and disturbingly, ignorant of this.
