Sherston Software's Magic Grandad and Barnaby Bear are appealing travelling companions for infants. While the bear joins youngsters in dozens of interactive geography activities all over the world, Grandad takes them to the seaside and back in time.

Geography activities include travelling and maps, weather and packing, transport and shopping, says Jamie Bayliss, of Sherston Software.

"As Grandad takes the youngsters travelling in time, they see how things develop in transport, communications, architecture and clothing, with the help of over 80 resources, such as old photographs and video."

Each CD-Rom includes a teacher's guide and costs pound;49.95.
