I have been deeply shocked to hear Ted Wragg has died. The world was a better place with Ted in it. Whenever something cropped up in the world of education, I waited expectantly to see what Ted would make of it.
His writing always made me smile and, more often than not, laugh out loud.
He was dedicated to excellent teaching and cared passionately about children and young people.
He made no bones about criticising, in his inimitable style, ridiculous irrelevancies impeding effective learning imposed by successive bureaucracies.
His writing in The TES was always hugely entertaining and it was good to know that he was out there championing straightforward principles and common sense. Ted Wragg was an institution. I almost felt I knew him. I will miss him very much.
