The TES Scotland is delighted to announce this week that Elizabeth Buie, education editor of the Herald, has joined our editorial team.

Elizabeth, a law graduate of Edinburgh University, has had a varied career in journalism, cutting her teeth at the Northern Scot in Elgin and the Press and Journal in Aberdeen. She joined the Herald in 1988, becoming environment correspondent and then education editor.

Neil Munro, editor of The TES Scotland, said: "Elizabeth is a major addition to the paper. She is a professional of distinction and brings with her wide experience and reporting depth. Not only does she have considerable knowledge of the education system, but she is respected by all who have had contact with her as a reliable and trusted journalist. We are very pleased to have her on board."
