All further education colleges in Wales have been connected to the Internet in a project sponsored by the Further Education Funding Council for Wales (FEFCW) and co-ordinated by the United Kingdom Education and Research Networking Association (UKERNA).

Colleges have also been connected to JANET, the Joint Academic Network, with lines to higher education institutions. Main services include e-mail and web-reading.
