What is Remembrance Sunday for?

1st December 2000 at 00:00
Remembrance Sunday (Friday, November 10) reminded me of my girlfriend's teaching practice. Her school had organised a minute's silence. At 11am, everyone stood still, with the exception of one boy who kicked a football against a wall. My girlfriend challenged him about this. His reponse? "I can do what I want! It's a free country." Perhaps he needs to study his British history a little more.
