The week's snows yet again disclosed the dedication and imagination of the nation's classroom workforce. A guidance teacher, living well out in the sticks, woke up to deep drifts blocking his route.
But like any technologically sound professional, he did what comes naturally. He grabbed his digital camera, posed his hound in the driveway with snow up to ts neck and transferred the image to his online computer.
He e-mailed his classroom work to colleagues, accompanied by a shot of his sheepish mutt decked in the white stuff. Love to be in school, lads, but as you can see . . .
The staffroom was less than impressed. "Bet his wife has run out of soap powder," was just one carping response.
