World debaters

Two of the four pupils who will take part in the World Schools' Debating Championships in Bermuda in February will come from Grange Academy, Kilmarnock. Fifth-year pupils Jocelyn Nelson and Kirsteen McLeod will join Eleanor Winton from Madras College and Kirsty McNeill (captain) from the High School of Glasgow.

The winning team, whose trip to Bermuda is being sponsored by Standard Life, beat off a challenge from 24 other pupils in the Scottish finals at Glasgow University.
