The exodus of Gazza to Middlesbrough may have eased the troubles of a west of Scotland heidie who has recently targetted "laddishness" in an attempt to raise the attainment of boys.

For on the football field problems remain. His under-18 "bhoys from the park" did battle with some rightfooters from Greenock.

As the realisation of a 9-2 defeat sank in, the heidie began remonstrating with his crestfallen players. But what really riled the would be Wim Jansen was the sight of the victorious Greenock team marching round the pitch "a la Gazza" with imaginary flutes.
