Our prescience knows no bounds. Readers will recall that great battle fought some time ago - the so-called "decanal" contest for dean of the education faculty at Strathclyde University.

The contenders were Iain Smith and Rae Condie. The former emerged triumphant, but we noted quietly that Condie was clearly destined for greater things. She has now become deputy principal of the university.
