TES Global, the parent company of TES, has today announced the acquisition of leading online teacher training provider Hibernia College UK (HCUK).
The organisation provides digital teacher training programmes, designed to offer a flexible and accessible path into the classroom. The fully accredited courses allow trainees to follow either university- or classroom-based routes into the profession.
In addition to teacher training, HCUK offers professional development programmes and subject knowledge enhancement. It also provides courses to support teachers who have been drafted in to cover shortage subjects, such as science or maths, and can help schools to fill vacant positions by developing the skills of existing staff members.
It is planned that the partnership with TES Global’s international digital education business will help HCUK to expand at a time when schools are facing recruitment shortages across a number of subjects.
Rob Grimshaw, chief executive of TES Global, said: “Together we can play a positive role in helping more people to become qualified teachers, through online-enabled tuition that widens access and increases flexibility.”
Jeremy Coninx, managing director of HCUK, said the new partnership would enable the organisations to “support more people in becoming teachers, and more teachers in being able to access high-quality professional development”.
