Many teachers may sympathise with Phil Hudson (Letters, TES, April 27), who gave up teaching more than two years ago and stopped buying The TES because he found its contents depressing. He cited bad pupil behaviour, targets, league tables and Ofsted. I am a long-time subscriber to The TES and I read it avidly, not least because it contains precisely those contents.

I, however, stopped teaching more than 17 years ago.
