The deadline for applications for the prestigious TES FE Awards 2016 has been extended by one week to allow FE providers more time to submit their applications during the busy festive period.

Outstanding FE individuals and institutions are now invited to apply with their 500-word entry explaining why they should win one of the 14 available awards. The deadline is now midnight on Sunday 13 December.

Two new awards have been created for this year’s event: the Apprenticeship Programme of the Year Award, which recognise providers which have excelled in offering work-based training; while the Sixth-Form College of the Year Award will highlight the ongoing contribution of England’s 93 sixth-form colleges to the FE sector.

The winners of TES FE Awards 2016 will be announced at a ceremony on 22 April 2016 at the Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane, London.

Last year, Weston College in Somerset was named College of the Year and Overall FE Provider of the Year. Principal Paul Phillips said staff and students were “elated” about the awards, which had brought many benefits to the institution.

Winners from the 2015 TES FE Awards ceremony also included Croydon College’s Di Layzelle - who was crowned with the Lifetime Achievement Award.  “The TES FE Lifetime Achievement Award was particularly special to me as it was recognition of the work I value highly and am passionate about,” she told TES. “I can honestly say that I was absolutely speechless and overwhelmed. I will never forget the awards ceremony.”

The deadline for entries for this year’s TES FE Awards is now Sunday 13 December.
