Pupils as far afield as Pakistan and Jordan are embarking on independent research for a TES and National Foundation for Educational Research competition.

More than 60 entries have already been received for the competition, which aims to develop pupils’ research and inquiry skills. It was launched in April to mark the 60th anniversary of the NFER. Prizes include computers and MP3 players. The closing date is June 16. Details on the web at www.nfer.ac.uk research-challenge
