YOUR article about the evidence from the National Primary Headteachers’ Association on key stage 2 tests (TES, November 6) raises many questions. Are the 1998 test results, which will soon be turned into league tables, based upon spurious figures? Will schools be asked to set targets based upon these figures? Will the Office for Standards in Education be reporting on schools’ progress when the performance and assessment data they are using may be unsafe?
I have re-checked my own school’s papers and there are a disturbing number of questions where the marking has been changed two or three times. This raises huge concerns over the accuracy of the marking of unmoderated papers.
