A youth theatre initiative with a difference was launched in Glasgow a month ago as part of the Castlemilk Youth Complex, an independent youth arts organisation. Complex Theatre is an ambitious three-year programme of projects which aims to create a youth-led independent theatre company, enable artistic professionals to develop talents and skills, and operate accredited training. It also plans to produce five new mixed media youth theatre performances.

Development worker Kelly Bruce says: “Complex Theatre gives us a fantastic opportunity to raise the artistic standards of the music and theatre activities we have been developing here at the Complex. The accredited training will add another dimension to the skills young people learn.”

The scheme is supported by the Scottish Arts Council, Glasgow City Council and the Castlemilk Partnership. For more information see www.complextheatre.com and www.castlemilkyouthcomplex.co.uk
