THEY SAID

“Primary school boys call for more male teachers.”

Training and Development Agency for Schools

WE SAY...

The TDA wants more male primary teachers, but most school boys do not agree, the agency’s own research shows. Accordingly, it and its PR agency, Band Brown Communications, have simply ignored the research findings.

Primary boys are not calling for more male teachers. YouGov research commissioned by the agency shows that less than a third want more male teachers. Only 28 per cent believe men understand them better, or can be relied on for advice.

One in four boys say their favourite teacher is a man, indicating up to three out of four favour females. But that did not stop Graham Holley, the agency’s chief executive, claiming the YouGov evidence shows pupils want more male primary teachers.
