ALMOST a third of the 27 teachers at Temple Cowley middle school in Oxford are quitting, as the school faces closure in three years time as a result of local re-organisation. Martin Thomas, its 57-year-old head, said if he were younger he would consider leaving himself. He says schools threatened with closure should be given cash to hold on toand attract staff. Eight of the staff will have left by the end of July, including the heads of maths and science. The school is one of seven facing closure in Oxfordshire after councillors decided to scrap the county’s three-tier system. Pictured are Mr Thomas (front) and seven of the staff who are leaving.
