Third new post for Humes

One of education’s most outspoken academics is switching universities for the third time in a year. Walter Humes, professor of education and director of research at the school of education at Aberdeen University, is moving to his native west of Scotland and taking up a chair of education at Paisley University. He moves on April 1.

Professor Humes is a regular columnist with The TES Scotland and a familiar figure on the conference circuit where his iconoclastic views sit well with teachers. His new post is based at the school of education on the Ayr campus and he will seek to boost the university’s standing ahead of the UK-wide research assessment exercise.

Before moving to Aberdeen, Professor Humes had been at Strathclyde University.
