Ruth Hanson, a trainee primary teacher from Birmingham, was one of many among the traditionally moderate delegates at the Association of Teachers and Lecturers conference this week to attack the workload deal. She doubts that assistants can take a class alone, as the agreement proposes. The deal will also spark debate at the conferences of the other two big teachers' unions over Easter.
