Tighten school rules on disabled parking

I am disabled and was very interested to read your article “Facing the Challenge” (TES Magazine, March 28) about a teacher coping with her disability.

As an advisory teacher working in various schools, my biggest problem is parking near to the school where I am working. I wish more schools would provide disabled parking.

A few of the schools I visit have a disabled bay, but these are not always reserved for blue-badge holders. I have noticed that any visitor to the school will use the disabled parking, even though they do not display their blue badge. I have found this very frustrating - especially on one occasion when I was told the visitors to the school were professional footballers.

I do realise that under the Access to Work initiative there may be disabled footballers supporting children in schools, but I have a feeling the space was being used by able-bodied people. As parking is at a premium in most schools that I visit, I do understand that it is difficult to allocate a disabled parking space, but not doing so makes my job very difficult.
