Management allowances are dead; long live management allowances. Schools have not been able to award new ones to any teachers since January this year. It’s all got to be teaching and learning responsibility payments (TLRs) now. But somebody should tell the Government’s Training and Development Agency for Schools. In the “pay and benefits” section of its website, there is no mention of TLRs. Additional money for additional responsibilities are described as management allowances. Could a saboteur from the TLR-hating National Union of Teachers have doctored the site? Or is it a wee lapse?
