A pupil from the Music School of Douglas Academy in Milngavie has won the Young Composer Competition 2007.
Tom Harrold, 16, has started S5 in the specialist music school where he studies piano and composition. He won the national BBC PromsGuardian Young Composers’ competition for the 16-18 age category. His composition “Dance” was performed by the London-based ensemble Endymion as part of this year’s BBC Proms series at London’s Cadogan Hall earlier this month.
He has also been commissioned to compose a new work, to be performed by the BBC in the 2008 Proms.
