Too arrogant for debate

In his rush to accuse me of “intemperate invective” (TESS, October 27), Eric Young well demonstrates his failure to recognise legitimate, pointed and, it would seem, painful criticism, while totally ignoring the thrust of my correspondence on continuing professional development.

We all have the interests of the pupils at heart. And the best protection pupils have against the arrogance of the devotees of the emperor’s new clothes is debate.

I look forward to the newly-designed and refreshed TESS continuing and encouraging this tradition.
