PRIMARY pupils in Devon will be given a free fruit drink with school meals from April to boost post-lunch concentration levels. This follows research proving the link between increased liquid consumption and improved academic performance. A paper on the effects of exercise and nutrition on learning, by the Institute of Education at the University of London, said:

“Dehydration is a common problem that is linked to poor learning.”
